The palms swayed and the banana trees frayed and we sat out this torment for a number of hours and the rain did not stop until the next day.  The charters were cancelled until Friday but the seas were flat calm on the morning of the 13th and perhaps the blue water and big fish were ready and waiting after this strange event.  We will never know, considering the drama of the night before, no one would venture out 39 miles for any reason.  This was actually a fantastic weather treat for us in Vallarta, usually by the month of May the mountains are so dry from lack of rain over the winter season but this year we can enjoy a little burst of green to keep us going until the monsoon rains arrive in late June.

Ed and Anne finally had their charter on the 15th on the EL AMO.  Trini, owner and captain of this beautiful 34' Hatteras, hosted the couple and they brought in a number of fish.  Do I need to mention what they were?

Phil and the STRIKE ONE was out on the 15th as well with Steve, Chris and buddy, Todd.  They caught their fair share of Sierra, a huge Roosterfish and also landed a Barracuda that was about 4 feet of pure white meat.  Captain Hector swears that he has never seen this particular species of Barracuda in this area, and the STRIKE ONE and Hector fish more than any other boat in Marina Vallarta.  Let's hope that these beauties show up more often.

On the 12th of February Puerto Vallarta experienced a very strange weather phenomena.  Phil got a call from Ed and Anne Goscinski, his charter for the 13th and they said that the wind was very strong and the staff at Club Marival were bringing in the tables and taping the windows.  A bit alarming for a couple that had planned an idyllic day on the ocean for the next day.  All was calm in Vallarta and Phil thought that Ed and Anne may have spent too much time in the sun but within minutes the wind picked up and the rain began in front of our house.  It looked like a hurricane but there was nothing dramatic on the weather channel.  In the past 13 years we could not remember wind and rain in February but this seemed to be a serious storm.

Chris Bohl sent us this great photo and although it missed the debut of this new fishing report, it is here now for the world to see.  Thanks Chris, better late than never!  Chris is forgiven for a nice comment that he made about old Phil.

"p.s. Your website is ALMOST as much fun as you are in the boat!"

Phil's family will find this interesting because they all feel the happy, good-natured Phil becomes a tyrant on the ocean.
